The Urgency Audit

The concept of urgency has been widely misunderstood and is subsequently driving waste, however, “bad” urgency can be detected, diagnosed, and driven out of your organizational culture.

The idea of urgency has been entertained, in lean contexts, both as a positive and as a negative indicator of organizational culture. So which is it? Ultimately, it’s both, but also, the whole truth is “it depends”. In this session we’ll distinguish between good and bad urgency, and then we’ll learn how to go hunting for the bad!

Needless urgency is a great driver of waste, and as a result is a great improvement opportunity. We’ll look at the tricky causes of needless urgency, symptoms to help you detect its presence in your culture, and map out some of the common places it lives in organizational culture, so that you can weed it out and enable good urgency to thrive.
